edit: I’ve hit a dry spell in the game already. Such an unfortunate turn of events. Hopefully I’ll find something more to do (that is not mindlessly camping critters) soon.
Awhile back I gave some thoughts on the EoF expansion but mentioned that I wouldn’t be buying it. That’s largely due to a bias against EverQuest 2; the game is a very boring experience and I do not recommend it to anyone.
Well, that may have changed with Echoes of Faydwer. Having decided to give their EoF expansion another chance I once again find myself fluttering around Kelethin. I’ve made a new character for this and I am much, much happier with her appearance. Not that I have anything against the pink haired fairy that I used last time, but seriously… how can you not have a goth fairy?
Duh!
Note: There are several screen shots of this character available. You can Download Niomae.7z from FileFront if you want to see them. All screenshots were taken at “High Quality” setting.
EoF has the benefit of allowing you to ignore the entirety of the rest of the game world. In other words, you can level from 1 to 70 without leaving the expansion. This is a great thing because the setting of EoF is more interesting, has better visuals, and is simply more enjoyable than all of the rest of EQ2 combined.
Should you wish to actually see what the rest of the world looks like - and I pity those who waste their time doing so - then EoF does include the basic game and few of the other expansions and will allow you to do so (note: that’s only if you buy the boxed version from a store. downloaded copies from SoE is EoF only).
On the other hand, my character is a very low level character so I guess we’ll see if the bottom suddenly drops out on the experience. This is SOE after all. As it stands though, I’ve been enjoying the experience. It’s not the end all, be all of MMO experiences - far from it - but it’s been fun so far.
It doesn’t hurt that my character is so damn cute.
