MMORPG.com is saying that Age of Conan is now in Open Beta, yet the beta process claims that adventurers must be selected from the pool. Hmm, this does not sound like an “open beta” to me, but none the less, such is how it’s being worded.
This is what I said on my beta application form. You know what? I meant every word of it:
Many have come before you. All have claimed new and exciting adventures, and they have all made promises with such silk-lined words as “groundbreaking” and “revolutionary”. Yet, they produce only shadows of what ALL have already done. So here you are, another using these same words, and I laugh. I laugh at you and your claims, and I say that you can take your smoke and mirrors and shatter them upon the four winds! Do I insult you? Good! I shall lose no sleep waiting for a response to my challenge.
Do I think that they will succeed in this challenge where others have not? Do I think that they will actually succeed in providing something “revolutionary” and “groundbreaking”? No, I absolutely do not. Their promises sound to me like the wailing of those who have failed before them, and I laugh at their uncreative attempts at gaining my favor.
… heh, this setting provides oh so many wonderful way to pour out mountains of apathy upon their all too familiar claims. We will see, I suppose, one way or the other.
