We had some decent storms move through yesterday. The worse of the storm was right over the center of my town where the weather radar was showing a pretty crimson red. Bad storms don’t bother me much, but things became down right uncomfortable at one point.
We had a funnel cloud pass over and it was just begging to set down as a full tornado. The part that got under my skin was when everything suddenly calmed; this is not a good thing when the worse of the storm is still right over your head. It’s even less of a good thing when the feeling in the air changes… ::shudder::
I also heard reports of hail, which certainly didn’t comfort me any. I didn’t see any of it myself though.
The storm came close to turning real nasty, a heck of a lot closer than I think a lot of people here realize. A few minutes or so after exiting the area of my town our would-be twister touched down into a full tornado, and the storm on the weather radar turned pink. As far as I know it didn’t hit a town though, thank goodness.
The storms continued through the night in a much smaller form, waking me up from time to time with bright flashes of lightening, and it was still raining this morning at 8:00 AM when I headed out for my jog. I have to admit, it felt great jogging in the rain.
I also looked around for any damage while I was out and saw none, but the lake at the park was flooding a bit. It was nothing serious, just some water reaching up to the playground equipment. The minor flooding is no surprise, it didn’t stop raining until roughly a half an hour or so after I returned from my jog.
The next day or three should be (serious) storm free, but I’m no weather man so I guess we’ll see.
