Two totally unrelated subjects in one delicious post.
I went to the recreation center today a little earlier than I have been going. As my tweet says, I’m very pleased with the range of exercises that are available. I don’t lift weights (the machines that I use make use of levels of resistance), but I nonetheless receive a considerable work out.
Since I’ve begun using the recreation facility I have noticed people doing certain sit up routines on the manual machines. By “manual machine” I’m referring to devices that do not make use of resistance nor weights, but rather it’s up to the person to do what is done.
Anyhow, I’ve copied the abdominal work outs for my own routine. That’s a good thing because I was really wanting a second work out for my abs as everything else is worked multiple times.
Basically you stand on the device, face forward, and tip the top of your head toward the ground. The actual muscular work is done when you pull yourself up and you can add resistance on the way down as well by moving slower. One has to be careful to not use momentum from the swinging motion to bring yourself up rather than using the abdominal muscles.
The second exercise on the same machine is basically performed identically except I stand sideways and dip down to the left and right as low as I can and then bring myself up far enough that I’m “leaning” into the opposite direction.
I’m not so sure that the ‘machine’ was intended to be used for the sideways exercise, but it works rather well.
Today was also the first time that I attempted an approach to circuit training… of sorts. I switched back-and-forth between two machines rather than completing a full work out on one and then moving onto the next.
I had planned on also hopping onto the treadmill between muscular exercises but unfortunately one bloke decided to use the treadmill the entire time that I was there… never mind the fact that there is an entire room full of them downstairs and two just on the opposite side of the building on the same level that I was on (and others elsewhere). Oh no. It had to be that one. RIGHT smack in the amidst the anaerobic equipment. That I needed to use. (he didn’t once touch the anaerobic machines)
As far as cats are concerned, I have been adopted by one Mr Fluffy Butt. Apparently he responds to the name. Go with what works, right? My dog was out for a walk some days back when this cat comes running out of the blue and decides to rub up against and run between his legs, all purring and happy as can be. The cat then followed my dog home and began living in the tree in my front yard, and has since slowly began moving into the house.
Here’s a picture of Mr. Fluffy Butt himself:
As you can see, he’s becoming quite content.
I’m seriously tired so I’m out of here. Later folks.
