edit: Huh, apparently it doesn’t like HTML submitted in this way.
What this post was, was a test of a service called IMified. It’s a tool that allows you to post to your blog, have a reminder sent to you, manage a simple to-do list, and various other useful things directly from your instant message program.
My test showed me that it does not at all like HTML being submitted so I’ll have to keep such submissions very simple. I’ll probably change my blog’s default category to the Asides and use this as a method to easily post quick notes to the blog. Scratch that. I’ve added Twitter to the IMified account and replaced the side blog with my Twitter RSS feed. It’ll be the same operationally, but it’ll also be even easier and quicker to submit items to it. Look for a quick test message in the sidebar soon.
Curious? Check out IMified for yourself. It’s a free service.
The original post follows this line, but keep in mind that the HTML (a link to the website) that I typed broke the submission:
. This post is a test of this tool. I don’t know if it’s possible to select the category that it’s posted to, but I guess we’ll see. Later!
Last night I signed up for Netflix. It’s something that I’ve been thinking about doing for awhile now, and I found a coupon code that gave me a one month free trial instead of the usual two week trial. For those interested the code was 80004745 . Mind you, I have no idea how long that code will last, so good luck!
Oh, I went with the super cheap $4.99/mo option by the way. I’ll get only one DVD at a time, but I’m not a huge movie watcher anyway. I’m using Netflix to catch up on some anime (Full Metal Alchemist, Ergo Proxy, & some others) and that’s about it. Read the rest of this entry »
It’s the same’ol spiel: Most of us know that we should back up our data, but the majority of us rarely do. Who wants to go out and buy discs then wait around while data is being burned. Or what happens if your documents, being largely text files, simply won’t fill a single disc and you can only find a CD-R?
There are many excuses, but it call comes down to the same thing: Most of us don’t back up our data because its too inconvenient or too easy to forget.
I’ve been using a solution to this problem. My documents and important image files have all been backed up, and they’re stored in a secure, encrypted place that I don’t even need to think about. Let alone bother to setup. Read the rest of this entry »
Last week while out for one of my walks I noticed a kid riding around on a bike designed like a chopper. It was a pedal bike, but the front wheel was out quite far from the front of the bike.
It was the first time that I had seen a pedal bike with a design like that. As it turns out, I’ve found a company that sells bikes of this and many other designs. I wonder if this kid had one XYZ Bike’s beach cruisers? Read the rest of this entry »
Spyware is that stuff that’s bundled with a lot of free software, or that some websites try to sneak onto your system. It can be troublesome by slowing down your computer and causing the computer to crash, but it’s also pretty scary in that it watches your online activity.
The above video is a Reuters news video about the launch date of Halo 3. Check it out for some Halo 3 footage!
You know what the best part of this is? Unlike using YouTube, embedding this video from The News Room earns cash for my blog. Seriously! Anyone who watches this Reuters report on Halo 3 helps to bring in a bit of cash for me.
We touched on the subject of addictions in Psychology and it’s a frightening and difficult situation to get out of. So I’m surprised that this drug rehabilitation service touts an impressive 75% success rate.
Drugs that produce pleasure and euphoria are particularly dangerous because the brain will stop producing the chemical needed to feel pleasure or enjoy things in life. Can you imagine life without the ability to enjoy experiences? No, and as a result they hit up more and more often or otherwise turn to larger and larger doses.
If you listen to music from the 80’s then you know the band The Police. In fact, even if you’re not familiar with the band you’re probably still familiar with their music. Have you heard the song “Every Breath She Takes”? Yep! That’s by The Police…
…and they have a new CD and world tour! This is freaking awesome.
One of my fave 80’s bands are back. ^_^ They have a great, unique sound that’s just as good today as it was back then. Man, it’s going to be great to hear them again.
Songs like “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic”, “Spirits of The Material World”, and “King of Pain” aren’t just music, they’re memories. They’re the tunes that I listened to in my teens while riding around in the Camaro with a pal and just enjoying the sunlight and the wind…
…hanging out at his place, riding around in the Camaro, laughing and just being stupid kids. They were great times, with great music to match.
In the day-to-day world you can’t simply tell a banker that you want $2,000 and then have the money a few days later. Most of us can’t do that, anyway. They want your paper work, they scrutinize your credit score; it’s a big headache and then you may not get the money despite it all.
As a student that’s not the case. I can sit down and say, “I need $2,000″ and they hand me loan papers to sign. I sign them, they take them, and a week later I can have the money in my account. There is a brief counseling session before the first loan, but after that the process takes only a few minutes. It’s very easy and accessible, which is both good and bad.
Occasionally there are opportunities posted that you have to jump on, and this is one of them. Farming is hard work, and we all know how little they get in return for feeding all of us… as in everyone on the planet. So it’s a pleasure for me to share this video with all of you:
I can’t help but think of ‘ol Grandpa Baker. He was a kind old farmer that I knew as a little kid. He would let us ride his horses and would gladly send us home with free baskets of fresh corn.
Well anyway, that’s another story entirely.
