I ordered a few more domains today: One will be for this blog (no more sub-domain, yay!), one will be for psychology thoughts, & the other for political thoughts. It’ll probably be about a month before I begin bringing them online. I may very well use Blogger.com to host them free for now.

It’s a mere 30o F. (-1.1o C.) outside and it sleeted and snowed yesterday evening (and possibly through the night). “April showers bring may flowers”, do they? Well, not when they’re frozen solid.

I really need a camera. I would love to take pictures of this stuff… the weather is so farked up.

Anyway, I have to go chisel the ice off of the car windows and such now. Yay Spring time! O.o

Edit: Turns out that the ice / snow had melted over night or sometime this morning, so chiseling was not required.

So, awhile back Cat drew me a great picture. Unfortunately I can’t share it here because I haven’t received permission to do so, but this post could not be complete without mentioning this. :-)

The other day another pal of mine, who I met through Cat, drew a composite portrait of two of my characters. The cloak was taken from the Dark Brotherhood chara that I played in Oblivion [see it]. The second (and primary) character is Esmer, a World of Warcraft character that I used to play [pic 1 | pic 2].

Here’s the picture (I done an MS Paint edit to add her URL to the image in the odd chance that this gets taken and placed elsewhere on the ‘net):

It’s all over the web now. Good’ol Captain America dies at the end of his most recent comic. The method of his death? Supposedly a simple sniper shot. BOOM! Just like that, and he’s gone.

There’s so much talk about it out there, and so many complaints. Have many of us taken the time to analyze the death of Captain America? To compare it to what is happening in the real world?

Let me begin by using the all-popular list approach:

My Developmental Psychology class has made me think of some past experiences. I knew a fellow who dated girls who had babies, and he insisted that smoking around them caused no problems for them. His reasoning was that his parents had smoked around him as a baby and nothing bad ever happened to him as a result of it.

Anecdotally, I would like to point out that this guy began smoking at a very young age.

Anyway, he refused to go outside to smoke and pretty much considered any concern about it to be a bunch of BS. I disagreed with this point of view but this was before I had studied psychology. So I had no basis for my disagreements other than my own feelings.

He was also the type of guy who would insist that the baby be made to “cry it out”. If I recall correctly, his concern was that the baby would grow up to be a spoiled kid if mommy was always running in whenever the baby would cry.

a.) I’m sick. This weekend promises to be a real downer. - edit: Yep, it sucked, and I’m home sick today. ::sigh:: fun times…

b.) The noises from inside of my case no longer play through my speakers. Of course, this is because I unplugged some of said speakers…

blarg, good night.

I have a goal for home entertainment. It’s a goal of comfort and total immersion.

See some of the items here.

Those are some of the items, but it doesn’t completely explain it. So let me give some details.

I step outside and take a breath, half expecting to see it crystallize before me as I exhale, but my attention quickly shifts to the tree at my right. Its dead bear limbs are moving in an unfelt breeze, their movements heavily subdued by the weight that they now bear. This is no gentle spring sway. No, I listen as its swaying, drooped branches produce a sound not unlike countless wads of paper being crinkled.

“Strange,” I think to myself, “I’ve never heard that sound come from a tree before.”

I continue to watch it for a few more minutes as I wonder if its about to fall to pieces, and then I gingerly step off of my back porch and onto the several inches of ice that now coats my back yard.

I found a digg post today that lead to some other interesting videos. They all show just how far (and absurd) photo retouching is, and how totally unrealistic pretty much every photo is that you see.

I’m especially fond of this photo of Glenn Feron on the site originally linked from digg. That gal is quite lovely on her own and the only thing wrong with that photo is the quality of the photographer, yet look at what they do to her in photoshop. The results look far from even being natural!

Not only do they inject her butt with silicon but they also break her foot. How can these models not be angry about this, or do they simply have no say in what happens with their photos?

In other pictures on that site you can see where certain deliberate tatoos were removed. They appear to be of a tribal nature and removing them - in my opinion - takes away the original intention and thus the beauty of the photos.

At any rate, those videos and pics are things that everyone should see. Especially young girls.

So here I sit, enjoying the Core 2 Duo processor that’s inside of my computer but finding nothing to exploit its strength. All of this “oomph” under the hood and it’s just sitting there, waiting, like the bored little beast that it is.

Well, at least this time I went into the situation knowing what would happen. I actually sat looking at the order page as I asked myself what I would use it for and I could come up with no immediate answer. On the other hand, I can now watch two video files at the same time with no slow down, should my attention span prove to be so slippery. ;-)

Yeah, I done that earlier.
