My PGP keys have been removed from the keyserver. My pass phrase was not working, perhaps as a result of one or more of my keyboard’s keys unknowingly not working when I originally generated the keys. New keys should be available within the next 24 to 48 hours of this post.
Sleet began coming down yesterday here in Pittsburg, Kansas. It stopped for awhile but unfortunately began again after sun set, and the result was an inch of ice. There is some damage through out the town, with a few unfortunate souls dealing with large limbs breaking through their roofs.
We got lucky compared to those few folks, but we still have a heck of a mess to clean up. The limbs in these photos fell regularly through out last night and knocked out both our power and cable (tv, internet) services.
Click through the photos to see more of them. There’s a heck of a mess there, and the weather report says that we can get more ice until Wednesday. Look for power to go out some more until this icy, wintry weather subsides.

I had to put my cat down today. She was 15 human years old.
You can’t help but feel rotten; like there’s something more that you could do, or could have done. that she could get well and stand back up again somehow. i know that’s not true though. not the way that she was experiencing convulsions, and the doc said at best she had 10 or 15 % chance. even then this or something like it would probably have happened to her again eh?
i don’t know what else to say, so i’ll leave it at this. I love my baby.. I wish that there was something more that I could do. she deserved better. i know that. i just don’t know or think that there was better to be given to her. at least I was there with her. i didn’t let them put her down without me being in the room with her. i just couldn’t let that happen.
it was so quick though. i’m glad for that.
mkay, that’s enough or i’ll just get worse ‘n worse.
The new comp is finally running, but with we’re now in the stretch of finals at the university. I may post from time to time during this period, but don’t expect much activity until after the 20th of December.
Later folks…
Hello folks,
The computer parts that I ordered will be here today at around 3:00 to 3:30 PM. If all goes well then I should have a working computer again by this evening.
I wonder how many of my pals actually check my blog versus how many of you think that I have simply vanished from the face of the Earth? Heh heh.
Perhaps I’ll chat with a few of you this eve before I have to leave for karate class.
Laters,
~Steph
Just FYI, it’ll be about two more weeks before I get back to my computer. My blogs will continue to be mute until then.
Somehow the processor was damaged and it reports reaching temperatures of around 154 degrees Fahrenheit in only a few minutes. It is not salvageable and I do not trust the new motherboard (a Jetway), so I will be buying a new motherboard and processor.

My computer is still dead. I’ve received a new power supply but the PS is either DOA or flat out not compatible with the old motherboard, and I still wait for the mobo replacement to arrive. I just don’t even want to think about the PS being DOA. :-/
Unfortunately I’ll receive the replacement motherboard later than expected. It should arrive next Thursday.
So, there’s that. I’m having terrible luck with the blasted thing.
In other, more pleasant news, I have to say that learning another language has its share of “hey, that’s pretty cool” moments… aside from meeting some great peeps, eating some good food, and generally enjoying myself that is.
There are times when you run across something written in the language that you’re learning and you suddenly realize, “Hey, I understand that.” On the surface that seems pretty simple, but I have to say that it can make me grin just a little when it happens unexpectedly.
Unfortunately my Korean vocabulary is still very limited and I read the Korean language so slowly that it does indeed take a moment or two for me to realize that, yes, I just read & understood something.. heh heh.
Oh well, you have to start somewhere.
Anyway, hopefully my computer will be operational again either this Thursday or Friday..

I’ve been off line for a few days now, as I’m sure that one or two of you have noticed.
This began when I received my new computer hardware. After installing my new toys I powered on the system only to see it lock up after a moment or two. The system would lock up during post; in fact, this even occurred when the BIOS set up was on screen, so this problem has nothing at all to do with the O/S.
I assumed that the motherboard was the culprit. The reason for this is that the IDE prongs were bent. A couple were so badly bent that they were laying down flat. When the system constantly froze I made the (logical?) decision that it was caused by the mobo and RMA’d it. Read the rest of this entry »
After last night’s database problems, and the database problems that my blogs have been experienced in the not-too-distant past, I’m looking more seriously at other hosts. Currently I’m eying Bluehost because they seem to be a few dollars cheaper with similar or better options.
They also appear to have a good reputation.
Thing is, I’m also toying with the idea of going to blogger. Do any of you know how to migrate a Wordpress blog to Blogger?
Later,
~Steph
My host’s database server went out last night and caused all three of my most frequently updated blogs to go out.
I apologize for the issue as well as the strange message in the RSS feed if you folks saw that too.
When I woke up this morning they had responded to my message and I was then able to use the SQL options of my website control panel to “Fix” the database. This restored normal access to the websites.
Later all,
~Steph
