Today’s oh-so exciting diet log:

My morning routine is becoming very routine.
Therefore, on with the bullet points!
I also jogged an additional two blocks (roughly) on my way back from the park.
As seems to be the norm more often than not I noticed that every jogger out this morning was a guy. Huh, perhaps that says something about stereotypes. Read the rest of this entry »
It felt pretty good getting out after skipping yesterday’s jog due aches & pains. This morning I made three laps around the park rather than my usual two.
It’s probably a good idea to point out again that my “laps” are broken into walking and jogging, and are not non-stop jogs around the park. In fact, I have mentally divided the streets into even sections so I jog (roughly) the same distance on each of the four streets around the park.
So there’s that, morning jog done - woohoo!

My diet today is kind of farked up because I woke up so early (at around 3:00 AM). D’oh. When waking up that early you get hungry earlier (of course) and you still have the rest of the day to deal with. It’s thrown me for a bit of a loop.
If the soreness of my hips is any indication then I will be skipping my jog this morning. I’m walking like an old man this morning.
This category, “Food Log”, will not be sent out in feeds. I may not actually maintain this category but the idea is obvious: To track my diet by keeping a record of it. This category is being made with the following in mind: “Being conscious of what you eat is an important part of keeping yourself healthy.”
At any rate, this post will be edited through out the day.
Is time to begin preparing for bed. G’night folks.
*Probably not as good as Silk soy milk, but the “original” flavor works very good in cereals.
Same’ol Same’ol you know. I headed out at about 6:00 AM and went around the park a couple of times. I felt pretty good this morning with a bit more energy than usual, and perhaps that has something to do with the two slices of bread (for carbs) that I had not too long before heading out.
Maybe, maybe not, but I did feel better this morning than I normally do. Sore certainly, but more energetic over all.
One of my exercise goals is to be able to do the splits, and as a part of that goal I am stretching when I arrive home from the jog. For one stretch I place a leg onto the back porch (at about hip level) and stretch it out to the side while sort of leaning down onto it.
A second stretch that I do is effectively trying to do the splits; I go down as far as I can and maintain it for about 20 to 25 seconds, and each time I do this I try to spread my legs a bit further apart. The problem with this stretch is that it can be hard as hell to get back up! Heh heh.
Of course, I also put my feet together and try to touch the ground with my palms. I actually do this one at the start of my jog as well (after walking a short distance).
The reason that I am wanting to be able to do a full split is because I’m enrolled in karate classes for this Fall. I want to be able to do the splits by the time that they begin, or as close to a full split as I can. It’s my hope that having such limberness in my legs & hips will prevent (any further) injury to my hip, which I have had the nasty habit of over-extending during physical activities in the past.
It’s my working theory. Maybe it’ll work, maybe it won’t, but it seems to make perfect sense at the moment.
This morning’s humbling moment: Other joggers who were able to keep up with their dog and maintain that pace for three times as long as I am currently able to jog. Two such joggers were doing so while holding a bloody conversation.. sheesh. T_T
edit: I forgot to mention that I also done some ab crunches this morning.

We had some decent storms move through yesterday. The worse of the storm was right over the center of my town where the weather radar was showing a pretty crimson red. Bad storms don’t bother me much, but things became down right uncomfortable at one point.
We had a funnel cloud pass over and it was just begging to set down as a full tornado. The part that got under my skin was when everything suddenly calmed; this is not a good thing when the worse of the storm is still right over your head. It’s even less of a good thing when the feeling in the air changes… ::shudder::
I also heard reports of hail, which certainly didn’t comfort me any. I didn’t see any of it myself though.
The storm came close to turning real nasty, a heck of a lot closer than I think a lot of people here realize. A few minutes or so after exiting the area of my town our would-be twister touched down into a full tornado, and the storm on the weather radar turned pink. As far as I know it didn’t hit a town though, thank goodness. Read the rest of this entry »
My past two mornings were blessed with beautiful cool weather. Not so this morning. It was about 6:00 AM and the moment that I stepped outside it was like walking into a wall of humidity. Yuck!
We can’t let that stop us though, eh? I walked the distance to the park rather than jogging it as I normally do, but I completed my usual two laps around the park. It was an uneventful, muggy, sticky-feeling jog. I’ve definitely had better.
If I buy the Nike+ gear and I get the iPod Nano off of eBay then I’ll be looking at roughly $170, counting the least expensive running shoes but not counting shipping. Hmm… Maybe that’s not so bad. It’s certainly a better investment than computer parts, which do nothing for my health.
I’m still mulling it over, but I’d sure love a way to keep track of my stats and progress.
