Welcome back to this much ignored food log category. I’m not going to try to keep a daily tally of what I’m eating because obviously that didn’t work out (it was too much of a hassle). Perhaps it’ll be of use now and then, though..

For now, I may as well post what I ate last night after karate class.

  • First thing I hit up: 100% Gold Standard Whey Protein. One full scoop, half a glass, using 8th Continent soy milk. Half a glass was used because that’s all the soy milk that was left! :-P
  • Dinner, after the shower, was a couple of mini steaks (mmm, more protein) and a peach

A bit off topic, but this morning’s breakfast was my usual granola cereal. Unfortunately I had to use cow’s milk (skim)… cow’s milk just doesn’t go over very well for me.

It turns out that my Lifetime Fitness Concepts class is going to be a lot more than just learning good dietary and physical habits: A physical exam is part of our grade. Not the results of the exam, but having one done.

Additionally I received the impression that we’ll be doing a number of physical things through out the year, and possibly additional physical exams. We’ll see.

This is mighty surprising, but it goes perfectly with the previous post. I won’t just have a photo, I’ll have hard facts about my current physical fitness level (which I’ll say right now is pretty damn poor).

Me likes!

Tonight I made (what is for me) a significant choice. I decided to make a massive commitment to physical health from this point forward. No more simple jogging, no more simple exercises; it’s time to get very serious.

Previously I mentioned that I was one block away from meeting my fitness goal. This morning I met it and then exceeded it! Woohoo! :-D I jogged non-stop around the park and then continued, adding the full length of one of the two longer streets (a rough guestimation of an additional 3ish blocks).

My next fitness goal will be to do the splits, with a much longer term goal of completing two circuits non-stop around the park.

Yar! :D

Yep, I’m in a pretty good mood this morning! ;D

I almost didn’t go out to jog this morning. I’ve been in a slump recently as I struggle with burn out and, to exasperate the problem, I got into the Tabula Rasa beta this morning. I had to force my lazy arse out of that door, but I made it…

…and I’m glad that I did! My goal for this summer has been to jog completely around the park once non-stop, and I came SO close this morning! The park is divided, of course, into four sides. Two of those sides are very long, and two of those sides are “short” (the short sides are the length of one block). I would have made an entire circuit had I been able to complete just one more short, one block stretch - yar!

So close! Unfortunately my chest was simply too tight by that point, and my jog had become a small trot of sorts by then anyway lol, but hey! I’m feeling pretty good.

One block to go! :D

…but I don’t post about it every day now. I also hit burn out awhile back, but I got out again this morning with jogging, crunches, push ups, and stretches. ;-)

Awhile back I noticed on Google maps that the house of someone I know is 1.1 miles from my own. Though the campus is 1.2 and would be a comparatively equal distance to jog, getting there means crossing some busy streets. This makes the route a little less practical.

So this morning I decided to use his house as a distance marker. This meant that I didn’t have the neatly divided sections of the park to mark my progress, but it’s good to have a change of scenery from time to time. Besides, heading in his direction means that no crazy mother goose was going to try to chase me off. ;D

Of course after getting back I went through the usual stretches, ab crunches, and push ups. Why is it that push-ups are so damn hard? >-/ Mayhaps it has something to do with the soft floor.

Well anyway, there’s that.

  • pre-jog fuel: what was supposed to be a health bar, but turned out to be nothing more than an extra long fig newton.
  • Breakfast: Two pancakes
  • Lunch: bowl of oatmeal
  • Dinner:
  • peanut butter sandwich
  • bow’o beef stew (corn, peas, carrots, potatoes & beef)

I got to the park this morning and began as I normally do, but after the first segment* I experienced a splitting headache. I paused for a moment, relaxed, and tried continuing but the headache roared back to life as soon as I done so.

So this morning’s jog is off. Hopefully I’ll remember put out some ibuprofen before bed tonight.
