Here is collection of 27 WoW screenshots that were taken at the widescreen resolution of 3840×1024. This file is essentially 12 MBs in size and each image has been converted into a JPG (otherwise these files would total about 400 MBs).

Download the widescreen images (click here) of World of Warcraft. Hosting provided by Filefactory.com. Hosting of the file is not permanent so you should get this archive sooner rather than later if you are interested.

My desktop resolution is currently set to an amazing 3840×1024 pixels thanks to the TripleHead2Go. I have three monitors currently running, and each is being used to display this single gigantic resolution.

Running the desktop itself in this size allows me to have three programs opened and each of them maximized. A few minutes ago I was going through the World of Warcraft screenshots that I just snapped with a list of the images on the left monitor, the image viewer on the center monitor, and the web browser opened on the right-hand view.

It leaves little reason to alt-tab between applications. :-)

The cons to having such a large display running is that I have to turn my head to the left to see the Start button, and I have to nearly look over my right shoulder to see the clock in the bottom-right corner!

Playing in a wide screen is interesting and takes a bit of getting used to. Seeing the world move through peripheral vision was a bit disorienting for me at first. It was also odd to look into the left or right monitor to find the doorway that I was looking for.

Once you get used to it, though, it’s a pretty cool experience. I watched as players, mobs, and NPCs walked by me, onto the left monitor, and finally out of view.

Here’s a wide screen shot of WoW in the night elf city:

There’s more to say about this, but I now have 3 weeks to use the equipment before writing up the final review. I have lots more testing to do. ;D

It seems that I forgot to mention my psych results thus far.

It’s bed time for me (and I’m feeling it :-p) so I won’t go into any great detail (may edit this later), but my score on the first psych test was 49/50. Not too shabby. That’s thanks to the extra-credit at the end of the test.

Anyway, it’s off to bed I go. It’s another day of class & work for me.

*yawns*,

My Viewsonic VX922 19″ LCD monitor that I won arrived today. Woot! :D This thing is a beauty.

I have ran it through a series of tests already but I have more to go. That reminds me, I should go rent some movies after posting this.

At any rate, I’ve downloaded a couple of applications that are designed specifically to test LCD monitors. They test the monitors for things such as blur/ghosting, dead pixles, and proper color reproduction. I have also ran a couple of games and have put 3DMark06 through its’ various steps.

Acalia - Login Shot Lovely, isn’t she? It’s one of the main reasons why I chose to play a female night elf priestess.

While I’m at it I may as well place a link to her talents page. I don’t know how often I’ll keep this updated, and with my small attention span I can’t say that I’ll ever muck with this again. On the other hand, it’s a nifty feature.

Acalia’s Talent Tree – Obviously she’s Holy focused (for now).

Just a quick reminder to all – I lost a back up of my blog so these asides are months old.

Have you ever used a search engine – like, say, Google – and thought that the results would be so much better if you could “Digg” the search results? Apparently someone else thought so too, and they’ve created a new search engine that works exactly like that.

It’s called Wink.com.

It looks like the time warp is permanent. :-( It’s not the end of the world, though it’s a bit frustrating.

To sum up the last month: Attending the university, have a part time job, lowest score is a “C” on one quiz, and I installed a new motherboard (which was a bday gift from an old pal) for my computer. The sound in my computer now works as it should, and I have not yet been able to crash my system since installing the new board.

On the bright side, I mentioned in my previous post that I had won a contest for a 19″ LCD monitor, but I also mentioned that “there’s more to it than that”. Well, there is! It’s a hell of a thing to win, let me tell ya. It’s not just a monitor, there’s also a Matrox “surround gaming” device called “TripleHead2Go”. I won ‘em both, and both will be shipping to me soon.

My personal blog has experienced a significant time warp of roughly one month. Unfortunately I did not know that the data on my sub-domain (aka; this blog) was being hosted on an old deprecated machine. The main Shadows In Motion website was moved to this new machine long ago, but all of us seem to have fogotten about the sub domain.

My blog became unreachable earlier this evening and that’s how this over sight came to light. They moved the DNS to the new machine but the data has not yet been moved over with it.

To add to the problem, my computer has experienced a significant change itself. As explained in the now absent post, I have installed a new motherboard into my computer and my main (C:) drive’s data was wiped in the process. This means that all of my backups are gone, as well.

I hope that they can move the data from the old server to this one.

At any rate, today was a great day for me despite these issues. I’ll explain that in detail later, but the short version is that I won a contest for a 19″ LCD monitor. Woot!

Later folks,
~Steph
